Prospect records link a customer name to a list code. They are commonly created as a result of importing lists of names from outside sources. They also may be created when you enter a prospect name using the 'Prospects' transaction and when you convert expired subscribers to prospects using the expired subscription purge.
You will want to purge prospect records after you have exhausted their promotional possibilities. When the prospect record is purged, the customer record that is linked to it will also be purged, unless that customer is linked to other list codes or owns any subscriptions.
To run the prospect purge, select 'Purge...' under the 'Updates' menu and then select 'Prospects'.
Purge prospects from list
Right click once in this field and select the code for the mailing list that the prospects you want to purge belong to.
Dated between ___ and ___
Enter the date range of the records to be purged. This field defaults so that QuickFill will purge prospect records more than three years old.
Only purge prospects that have an active subscription to ______
Leave this field blank to purge prospects regardless of whether the customer has an active subscription or not. Enter a publication code to purge only those prospects that have an active subscription to the publication you specify. You may use wild cards in the publication field. Please note that it is not usually necessary to purge prospect records for customers that have become subscribers. The promotional labels and customer export screens allow you to exclude active subscribers from your selection. It is usually easier and timelier to exclude the active subscribers from your selection just before creating a promotional list, rather than periodically removing the names of active subscribers from a prospect list.
