Purge history orders update

Use the history order purge to delete order records that have been completely served. Unlike the expired subscription purge, the history order purge looks at active subscriptions as well as expired subscriptions, searching for old order records. It will delete expired order records within the range of expiration dates you specify but will never delete the last (or current) order of the subscription.

Example:  Mr. Smith first subscribed in January 2000 for a one-year term and has renewed annually each year since then. Now, in November 2005, the list of orders for his subscription looks like this:

You are no longer interested in the renewal rates or payment rates for 2000 or 2001, so you run the history order purge and tell it to purge orders that expired between the issue dates JAN 00 and DEC 01. This will cause the first two orders in the list to be deleted.

Even if you were to tell the history order purge to delete orders between JAN 00 and DEC 05, it would not delete the last two orders in the list because it always stops when it gets to the current order. (Click here for more information on order types.)

To run the history order purge, select 'Purge...' under the 'Updates' menu and then select 'History orders'.

Purge orders to publication

Right click once in this field and select the code for the publication that the orders you want to purge belong to.

That expired between issue __ and __

Right click once in these fields to select the issue dates from the issue table of the publication you entered in the previous field. You cannot type the issue code directly.

Include orders...

These three fields let you decide whether you want to purge any of the three types of canceled orders. If a customer canceled, and then renewed a year or two later, you might want to keep that canceled order so that you don't lose track of the fact that he canceled once. These fields are selected by default. If you do not wish to include any of the types of canceled orders, click in the appropriate field to remove the check mark.
