Use the suspend transaction to prevent QuickFill from generating issue labels, bills, and renewal notices to a customer who has asked that his or her subscription(s) be suspended for a time (because the customer is going on vacation, say). You can suspend a subscription until a specified issue. In this case, QuickFill automatically unsuspends the subscription when that issue becomes the current issue. You can also suspend a subscription(s) indefinitely. In this case, it remains suspended until you manually reinstate it.
Once you've suspended a subscription, you can also use the suspend transaction to change the type of suspension to either an indefinite or a specific issue. (QuickFill keeps track of the issues due for each subscription. As long as the subscription is suspended, this number does not change, even though you continue to serve issues to other customers.)
When the 'Suspend' transaction is selected for a group subscription, a warning message similar to the following is displayed.
If you want to change the group membership and do not want the subscription suspended, click on "No." Otherwise, click on "Yes" to continue with the 'Suspend' transaction.
To suspend a subscription, you must first lookup the customer to whom the subscription belongs. (Click here for details on the lookup procedure.) Once you are on the "Subscription and prospect record" lookup screen, select 'Suspend' under 'Transactions' on the main menu.
A box, with the fields below, will appear.
Suspend this subscription indefinitely
Choose the "Suspend indefinitely" option If you want the subscription to remain suspended until you reactivate it by using the 'Reinstate' transaction..
Suspend all of this customer's subscriptions indefinitely
If you want to suspend, for an indefinite amount of time, all subscriptions that belong to the customer, click the 'Suspend all of this customer's subscriptions indefinitely' option, then click "OK" to save your change. When you do, a message box will appear notifying you of how many subscriptions were suspended.
Suspend until issue _____
If you want to suspend the subscription until a specific issue, leave the 'Suspend until issue' field as it is (this screen automatically defaults to this field) and either enter an issue number in the blank field to the right of "Suspend until issue" or right click. QuickFill displays a list of issues. Scroll to the next issue the customer wants to receive and click on that issue to select it. Then click on "OK" to save your change.
Once you've clicked on "OK," QuickFill updates the subscription and redisplays the order list. Now you can return to the main menu, or click on "Details" to display the order details.
Since the 'Suspend' transaction is not a batched transaction, it is recorded in the miscellaneous batch. Click here for details on the miscellaneous batch.
