The 'New order revenue' report shows you new orders grouped together in various ways. It also includes the marketing costs associated with the orders as well as the new order income.

The marketing costs reported either come from the tracking code or the mailing list and marketing package definitions. (Click here for more information on the 'Cost per thousand' field on the "Defining tracking codes" screen.).

The right side of the report contains two rows for each tracking code. The first row shows the results for all orders, while the second row shows the results for paid orders only. Within each row the report shows the number of orders received, the response rate, the cost per order received, the gross receipts (first row), and the net receipts (second row) after cancels and refunds. The percentage of orders that have been paid to date is shown under the marketing costs.

The gross receipts are the full price plus the shipping. The net receipts (in the 'Rec - Cost' column) are the gross receipts less the cost of the mailing. In both cases tax is excluded.

The 'New order revenue' report filter contains two tabs ('General' and 'Category'). Use the Ctrl-RightArrow and Ctrl-LeftArrow key combinations or your mouse to move from one tab to the other.

The 'by Channel' version shows you new order revenue broken down by the channel you specified. Use it to analyze the revenue from new orders you received through a specific channel or channels. For example, you can use 'Channel' to see how much new order revenue you received via direct mail, telephone, or fax. Or you can use 'Channel' to show how much revenue a salesperson was responsible for generating.

Summary, detailed

The summary report combines the data for all tracking codes on a single line. The detailed report displays each tracking code and the data associated with it on a separate line.

Orders, copies

If you select 'orders,' your report will show how many orders you received and how many of them have paid. If you select 'copies,' your report will show the number of copies ordered and the percentage of them that have been paid for.

Internet Extension orders

Select 'Include' if you would like to include QFIE orders, 'Exclude' if you would like to exclude QFIE orders, or 'Only' if you would like to produce a report only with QFIE orders. This field is only active for QFIE customers.

Include tracking codes with no orders

Check this field and your report will include tracking codes even if no orders have been entered using a particular tracking code. This is important if you are analyzing a marketing plan since it is possible to have a portion of the plan not produce any orders; your results would be misleading if you didn't know this.

Order date range

Leave the 'Order date' fields as they are, and your report will include all orders received in the past year. You can change the date range by right clicking the 'Order date range' field and selecting the appropriate range. If you wish to use a specific date, select the 'Custom dates' range and enter the dates in the date fields.

Price

Enter a price range and the report will only include orders with a price between the specified range. Leave this field blank and the report will include orders regardless of their price.

Category tab:

Random numbers

Leave the 'Random numbers' fields blank, and your report will include all customers, regardless of their random number. Fill in one or more ranges, and your report will include customers with random numbers in those ranges only.

In these reports, you'd use the random numbers for only unusual tests. For example, you may want to choose 50 random numbers and send all the customers with those numbers a complimentary binder at the start of their subscription. You could then run a report on the customers with the random numbers that received binders and the customers that did not and compare results for the two groups.
