Unlock database

Use the 'Unlock Database' screen to "unlock" records in the database that became locked as the result of the failure of a workstation.

Whenever QuickFill displays a record on your screen and is waiting for a response from you, it places a lock on the displayed record to prevent it from being changed or deleted until you have finished with it. QuickFill releases the lock when you either exit the screen or click on "OK" to record your changes. If your computer fails for any reason (perhaps you encountered a bug in QuickFill or someone tripped over your power cord—stranger things have happened!), then you will not be able to access that record until it has been unlocked.

'Unlock database' scans the database to look for locked records and unlocks them. By selecting the check boxes, you can choose which sections of the database you want scanned.

QuickFill can't distinguish between records that are legitimately locked because they are being actively worked on by somebody and records that were left locked after a workstation failure—it simply unlocks all locked records. If 'Unlock database' is run while users are in the middle of a transaction, two users may have access to the same record. Although the chances of this happening are small, you might want to have everyone exit to the main menu screen before you unlock the database.
