You use the 'Marketing packages' screen to define the contents of the package that makes up a promotional piece. You can identify the envelope you'll use, the letter or insert, and so forth. You can also use 'Packages' to identify different space ads or telemarketing scripts so that you can determine which were most effective. (This package is, of course, different from the packages you define for bills or renewals.)
You can request that QuickFill sort your orders by package when you run several of the reports. So you can compare the response rate, payment rate, and revenue generated for orders you receive using different packages and see which were most effective.
Defining marketing packages
When you select 'Marketing' under 'Definitions' on the main menu, and then select 'Packages', you'll see one of two screens. If you select 'Packages' for the first time after installing QuickFill, you'll see a screen with a blank form for defining the package.
If you've already defined some packages, you'll see a list of the packages you've defined in the upper portion of the screen and the "New," "Change," "Replicate," and "Delete" options running along the bottom.
If you haven't yet defined any packages, fill in the blank form and press click on "OK" to save your changes.
You can define another marketing package by clicking on "New," filling in the fields described below, and then clicking on "OK." If the marketing package you want to define next is similar to one you've already defined, you can replicate the existing package by moving the cursor to the package you want to replicate and clicking on "Replicate."
Package code
Enter a code to identify the package.
Description
Enter a brief description of the package and what you'll use it for. This description appears with the package code on the package selection list that pops up on some other screens when you right click on the marketing package field. QuickFill also uses the code and description to identify the package on your reports.
Fixed cost
The fixed cost of the package represents one-time charges to produce the package, such as designer fees.
Variable cost per thousand
Enter the cost per thousand for the items that make up this package. The variable cost represents the cost to produce each additional thousand pieces. It is used to compute the tracking code's 'Cost per thousand' that is in turn used by the 'New order revenue' report to compute the total marketing cost of the orders reported. Therefore, be sure to fill in the variable cost of the package if you want accurate results from the 'New order revenue' report.
Circular, Card, Buckslip, Envelope, Form, Reply Envelope, Letter IDs
In these seven fields, you identify the contents of your mailing package. You can enter in these fields any identification codes you want. The codes are for your information only. QuickFill doesn't use them.
Miscellaneous info
Enter any text you want in order to further describe the package and how you'll use it.
You can also change the definition of a marketing package by moving the cursor to the package you want to change and double clicking on it, or clicking once on "Change." You can delete a package that is not being used by moving the cursor to the package you want to delete and clicking on "Delete."
To delete a marketing package that is currently linked to a tracking code, you must first either change the tracking code so that it uses some other marketing package or delete the tracking code.
